Start with your own spaceship, explore procedurally generated star systems, land on alien planets, mine resources, research blueprints, upgrade your ship, and play alone or together on self-hosted servers.

What is Blocks Beyond the Stars?
Blocks Beyond the Stars combines space exploration, crafting, base building, and multiplayer. You start with your own spaceship and can use any procedurally generated world as your playground. Land on planets, gather resources, build new modules, research blueprints, and transform your ship into a true home in space. Each planet offers unique biomes, creatures, and materials—you decide where your journey takes you and what goals you pursue.
Multiplayer & Self-Hosting
Blocks Beyond the Stars is designed from the ground up as a multiplayer experience. Play in a private universe or host your own persistent world. Your friends can join at any time, share resources, build bases, and construct space stations. The servers run on Windows PCs.
Story teaser / VEGA protocol
An AI named VEGA accompanies you. It helps you, but many questions remain unanswered. Ancient DataQubes and ruins tell of lost pioneers and a sunken star network. Follow the clues – or ignore them.
Spaceships, Bases & Planets
Your spaceship is more than just a vehicle – it's your mobile base. You expand it with new rooms, technology, cargo bays, and specialized modules. You build bases on planets and create space stations in orbit. In multiplayer, these structures grow through teamwork.Planets are not just backdrops, but places to explore, build, and mine. Biomes, rare resources, and unexpected creatures make every landing unique.
DataQubes and mini-games
Along the way, you'll find DataQubes – mysterious artifacts containing small retro mini-games. They add variety, reveal more about the universe, and occasionally provide you with valuable information or items.
Who is building the game?
Blocks Beyond the Stars is a family project by Justus, Marcel and Verena Dütscher.
Justus, 10 years old, contributes many ideas, tests the game, and often thinks like a real game designer: What's fun? What's boring? What else needs to happen? Which creature, planet, or feature is missing?
Marcel is responsible for the technology, architecture, implementation, and AI prompting. This includes client, server, game systems, tools, planning, documentation, and the technical direction of the project.
Verena helps with testing, balancing, and fine-tuning. She checks whether things are understandable, whether they feel good, and whether the game as a whole becomes more polished.
The project should not appear like an anonymous studio, but rather honestly show where it comes from: a family that develops ideas together, tries them out, improves them and builds something of their own using modern technology.
AI transparency
This game would hardly be possible in this form without modern AI tools. But AI doesn't replace creativity here; it enhances it.
Music is created with Suno.ai, sounds with ElevenLabs, textures, icons and graphics with OpenAI, code with support from Anthropic Claude Code, planning and texts with ChatGPT and Gemini.
The direction still comes from people: ideas, decisions, testing, taste, fine-tuning, technical understanding, and the question of what truly feels like a good game. AI is a tool in the toolbox here, not the actual game developer.
The message is clear: AI helps. Humans decide.
