Your Ideas Become Part of the Game
In the game development club, you are not just a player. You become part of the development team and can actively contribute to Blocks Beyond the Stars.
Design Missions and Worlds
Create new tasks, planets, locations, stories, and challenges for the game.
Design Ships and Buildings
Plan spaceships, bases, space stations, and special buildings — as drawings, models, or directly in the game.
Work Creatively with AI
Learn how to describe ideas clearly, give AI tools useful instructions, and then review and improve the results.
Test New Versions
Be among the first to try out new features, find bugs, and give feedback on what already works well and what could still be improved.
Make Decisions Together
Discuss your ideas with the group and help decide which suggestions should be developed further and possibly added to the game.
What Happens During a Club Meeting?
Each meeting may focus on a different topic. Sometimes we play and test things directly in the game. During other meetings, we draw, plan, build, or develop new ideas together.
At the beginning, we introduce the topic of the meeting. The children then try something out in the game or work on a creative task. At the end, we look at the results together and discuss which ideas should be developed further.
Not every child has to program. A game project also needs ideas, drawings, names, stories, buildings, testing, and feedback.
Who Can Join the Club?
The game development club is open to students of all grade levels — students from all schools are welcome.
No previous experience in programming, game development, or artificial intelligence is required. What matters is curiosity, imagination, and the enjoyment of creating something together.
This club is for you if you enjoy playing, building, drawing, inventing stories, finding bugs, developing ideas, or trying out new technology.
The number of places may be limited depending on the available rooms and devices. The school or the club leaders will confirm whether a student has received a place.
Which Game Are We Working On?
Blocks Beyond the Stars
Blocks Beyond the Stars is a free and open-source space game.
You explore alien planets, collect resources, build bases and spaceships, and discover a shared game world together with other players.
The game is a family project by JuMaVe Games — Marcel, Justus, and Verena Dütscher — and is constantly being developed further.
The children in the club can actively take part in this development. Suitable ideas, missions, names, buildings, or suggestions for improvements may later become real content in the game.
Information for Parents and Guardians
In the club, the children do not simply use a finished game. They can actively help shape its continued development.
Depending on their interests, they may develop missions and stories, design worlds and buildings, test new features, look for bugs, or work creatively with AI tools.
A Safe and Supervised Environment
Blocks Beyond the Stars is designed to be child-friendly.
The game contains:
no advertising,
no in-game purchases,
no loot boxes,
no open chats with strangers,
no required account containing personal information.
The children play and work on school-owned devices or devices provided for the club, within a supervised environment.
Multiplayer Mode
Multiplayer mode is used exclusively within the supervised club environment and within the shared game world of the club group.
Responsible Use of AI
The children learn how to use AI tools creatively and responsibly.
The aim is not to accept AI-generated results without reviewing them. The children learn to express their ideas clearly, critically evaluate results, identify mistakes, and improve suggestions step by step.
The children and the club leaders continue to decide which results are actually used.
Children’s Ideas and Contributions
The children’s ideas, drawings, and suggestions may be included in the open-source game project anonymously or — with the appropriate consent — using their first name.
The required consent is covered by the registration form. Participation in the club does not depend on whether permission is granted to publish photographs.
Registration for the Game Development Club
To take part, we require a completed and signed registration form.
The form can be downloaded here, printed, and then handed in at the KuBa West school office or directly to the club leaders.
How Registration Works
Download the registration form.
Complete it together with a parent or guardian.
Ask a parent or guardian to sign the form.
Hand it in at the KuBa West school office or to the club leaders.
You will then receive confirmation about participation.
Submitting the form does not automatically guarantee a place. If the number of registrations exceeds the available places, the school or the club leaders will provide further information about the next steps.
