Workshops · An afternoon for kids & parents
Game development with AI
One afternoon, one parent-child team, one real result: We come to you with our team, technology and materials — to schools, libraries, adult education centers, family centers or your event.
Important note: We offer the workshops on Saturdays only, in German only, and only in the districts of Trier-Saarburg and Vulkaneifel (Germany), Luxembourg and the surrounding area.
Longer distances may be possible on request.
Two workshops - one principle
Workshop 1

Help build the space game!
Families design their own spaceships for our open-source space game — and fly them together that very afternoon. Along the way, the kids use AI to create their own sound effects for the game.
-
Arrive & play — get to know the game as a team
-
Design on paper — the child designs, the parent checks
-
Build in the game's own ship editor
-
Integration break — we add the ships to the game live; in parallel: AI sounds
-
Fly together — everyone plays with their own ships
What makes it special: The ships remain a permanent part of the published game. "I built that — and it's really in there."
from about age 10 · one parent each · approx. 4 hrs · max. 8–10 teams
Room: 8–10 Windows PCs + projector (we set up the installation; internet required)
Workshop 2

Your game in one afternoon
Parent-child teams invent their own little browser game — an AI builds it following their instructions. Testing, improving and deciding is done by the teams themselves.
-
Invent on paper — rules, look, your own special idea
-
The AI builds version 1 — at supervised stations
-
Test & describe — what matters most?
-
Improve — two more AI rounds
-
Game fair — your own game goes home with you
What makes it special: Every family goes home with a playable game of their own — and with a way of working with AI that also works at home.
from about age 8 · one parent each · approx. 4 hrs · max. 6–8 teams
Room: Wi-Fi + projector is enough; one device with a browser per team

Safety and AI rules
-
AI is used only under supervision and via the workshop leaders' accounts — no children's accounts, no personal data in prompts
-
Our basic rule: your own idea first — then the tool — then decide for yourself
-
Blocks Beyond the Stars is ad-free, with no purchases, no forced accounts, open source
-
Workshop 1: Designs only become part of the published game with the parents' written consent — full participation is possible without it
-
Workshop 2: The games belong to the families; nothing is published
Frequently asked questions
Do the children need any prior knowledge?
No — no programming, no gaming experience needed. Parents don't need any either.
Why parent-child teams?
Both take something home: children experience themselves as creators, parents take away a practical pattern for using AI with their child instead of for their child.
Who can book?
Schools, libraries, adult education centers, family centers, clubs, companies — any organization with a suitable room.
What does participation cost for families?
That is up to the organizer. The game, software and all work materials are free in any case.
How is this related to the school club?
The workshops are the one-afternoon format of our school club — same rules, same team, compact format.
