Before the autumn holidays, we said goodbye here with "See you on Wednesday, after the autumn holidays!" Since then we've been back in the computer room at KuBa West every Wednesday, and the latest updates hold more of the school club than ever: an asteroid of its own, a new animal, an Advent calendar and a whole stack of bug reports. Time for a new progress report! 🎒

A word up front. "I had no idea how a school club like this would go. The kids' imagination and creativity surprise me every single time! A small idea suddenly turns into a really big one when several kids think together about how to make it even cooler, even more beautiful." – Marcel

One Wednesday evening, lots of reports. On November 4, Ben, Marie and Justus played in the club and sent us everything they noticed with F1, straight from the game. Verena was building on the side and went looking for the jump generator. The next day, version 2026.11.5 was out. When Marie painted an avatar, a bit of blue always stayed on the shoulders, wrists and elbows – spots the editor couldn't reach at all. Now they take on the colours of your picture. And because Ben wished for wooden planks, there are now three kinds of them. 🪵

Two days later, Ben came back with the next round. Wooden stairs couldn't be built. Since version 2026.11.8, every cube material can be turned into a shape, even glass, which stays see-through as a staircase. Ben's ship also suddenly hovered five blocks above the landing pad after logging in, just because a staircase stood right next to it. Now the ship only looks at the ground underneath itself. That's exactly how it should work: whoever finds something reports it, and a few days later it's fixed.

Jafar's asteroid: the club in the game forever. Jafar had an idea that made us especially happy: a small asteroid called KuBa-W with breathable air, a green sky, hills, meadows and animals. From each of its two landing pads you can see a giant stone monument: one says "KuBa West Trier", the other shows the initials of all the kids in the club, plus J for Justus and M and V for the two of us. We added a third tablet: "JuMaVe Games", the name of our little family studio, made from Justus, Marcel and Verena. There is exactly one KuBa-W in every new galaxy, and the tablets can't be mined. 🪨

How big is giant? There's more tinkering behind those tablets than you'd think. In the browser you can only see about 64 blocks far, and everything beyond turns into fog. So that you can still read the writing from the landing pad, every pixel of a letter is made of 3 × 3 blocks, every letter is 21 blocks tall, and a line holds five letters at most. That makes the tablets up to just over a hundred blocks tall. The letters don't glow, by the way: in the game, every glowing block is a light source of its own, and that many would make small computers sweat. Instead, there's a lamp every eight blocks at the foot of the tablets. 💡

The Schuppenhund. Jafar's second idea came on a slip of paper: "Neues Tier – Schuppenhund (gefährlich) – bellt", which means "new animal – scaly hound (dangerous) – barks". The name stayed German in every language. It turned into more than a single animal: a whole new body type. Every world rolls its own Schuppenhund with its own colours, ears, teeth and claws. It lives alone on dry worlds, barks and bites hard. So it really is dangerous, but a little slower than you. Walking away and hiding works. That's how we like danger in a kids' game: exciting, but never unfair. 🐕

An Advent calendar that waits. Ben's next idea was an Advent calendar. Many games turn that into a chore: miss a day, miss the door. We didn't want that. We promised parents that nobody has to log in every day in our game and that you can't miss anything. So Ben's calendar waits for you: from December 1, a door opens every day at midnight where you live, and all of them stay open until January 6. Behind the doors there are materials, a little different for everyone so you can trade, and three surprises, among them Rudolpho, an alien reindeer with a glowing nose. It came with a new editor in which you can design your own frame for the screen and send it to us straight from the game. 🎄

Theo and the Sounders. The second story in the game, The Sounders' Song, has club roots too. Theo drew a Sounder: no eyes, long ears, four wavy arms and very long legs. That drawing was one of the models for the singing people you can search for since version 2026.11.9. 🎵

Where to find it all. KuBa-W and the Schuppenhund appear in new worlds; your old saves stay as they are. You open the Advent calendar from December 1 in the Character tab. The credits now list ten names from the club: Ben, Daimien, Jafar, Lena, Marie, Nikita, Noah, Paul, Sophie and Theo. 🎓

Thank you to all the kids in the club and to everyone at KuBa who makes it possible! If you'd like to join: you'll find all the details on our club page. See you on Wednesday! 🌟
