Version 0.8.5 – The Great Bug Hunt: Cursor Freed, Ghosts Banished, Cheating Stopped 🕵️
July 19, 2026
No single big feature this time — instead we combed the entire game for bugs, systematically: every corner from the game itself through the browser down to the servers behind it. The result is our biggest bug hunt yet: over twenty fixes in a single update. 🔍
The frozen mouse is history. The nastiest bug went like this: if someone sent you a trade or docking request while your menu was open, the cursor stayed locked for the rest of the session — nothing worked anymore, only a restart helped. Instead of patching just that one spot, we fixed the root: until now about twelve different menus all wanted a say over the mouse, and whoever spoke last won. Now there's exactly one referee that decides, at every moment, whether the mouse is free or steering the game. That makes a whole dozen relatives of this bug disappear too: Alt-Tab, the pause menu, the landing-pad map, pressing Escape in a search field — everything now behaves the way you'd expect. 🖱️
No more ghosts when switching worlds. Flying from a planet to a space station used to bring invisible luggage along: robots from the old world kept growling and shooting on the peaceful destination, frozen fellow players stood around, and ship hatches floated in mid-air as ghost doors. World changes now clean up properly — and along the way the game also releases its memory again, which matters most in the browser, where lots of world-hopping could eventually blow up the tab. 👻
Tablet players can't get trapped anymore. If you tried to name a beacon on a tablet (say, on glitch.fun), you were stuck: the dialog only closed with a real keyboard — which a touchscreen doesn't have. The dialogs now have proper buttons. The game also finally explains itself when loading goes wrong: instead of a dead menu or an empty world you get a clear error message with a "Try again" button — and if the singleplayer launch fails (usually an overzealous antivirus is to blame), you land safely back in the menu with a helpful hint instead of in an empty void. 📱
And the cheating is stopped. During our hunt we also found a real duplication trick: putting the same item twice into a trade offer let you multiply materials out of thin air. That's over now. Crashed ship wrecks actually stay wrecks after a server restart (before, they came back magically fully repaired), teleports now stick reliably (you'd sometimes get silently pulled back), and the portable suit teleporter finally got its trigger: right-click, and you're back at your ship. On top of that comes a whole bundle of invisible protective layers on the servers, so troublemakers can't take down the shared worlds. 🛡️
In short: no new toys this week — but everything simply feels more solid. Have fun exploring (undisturbed)! ✨
