Version 2026.7.23 – Achievements, torches and rings in the sky 🏆
July 30, 2026
Justus played for an afternoon and wrote a list: three things that were broken and seven he wished for. This version is that list — plus two things that were already finished and waiting in the drawer. 🚀
There are achievements now. 16 of them, across mining, building, crafting, exploring and survival — from "mine 5 iron" to your first visit to another planet. Each shows its progress live as a tally with a bar ("3/5"), so the list doubles as a hint about what to try next. And every achievement hands you a real reward: a medpack, an energy cell, ore, a better tool. If your pack is full, the reward waits instead of evaporating. 🏆
Light and doors are finally available on day one. Torches cost 1 wood log + 2 plant fibre, crafted by hand — four at a time, no workshop, no metal, no research. You mount them on a wall, you walk straight through them (no invisible crate in the way!), and the flame flickers — neighbouring torches deliberately out of step. All they need is air: on an airless moon the game now honestly says "there's no air here" instead of placing a torch that then mysteriously fails to glow. Plus the wooden door from 4 wood logs by hand — the two older doors needed metal panels, a bronze gear and a workshop. 🔥
And stairs now turn the way you want. Until now a stair's facing came solely from where you were standing — which simply doesn't work in a corner or flat against a wall. The rotate key now walks the four quarter turns first, then moves to the next face, then back to automatic. Out in space you can also mark planets by colour — six colours, several at once, each one named. And the Esc menu isn't just called "Pause" anymore: in singleplayer the world really does stand still, instead of your hunger ticking down while you read the menu. ⏸️
Some planets have rings. Tilted discs with bands and gaps, different on every planet — you see them from outside while flying, in the sky above neighbouring worlds, and on a ringed planet itself as a band arcing right across the sky: bold at night, a pale arc by day. Your starting planet always has them. And M opens a system chart in flight where a click sets a target — the autopilot then flies there instead of to the nearest station. Existing worlds simply gain the rings; nothing else changes. 🪐
And then the most important part: you don't lose things anymore. Justus' first note read "items gone" — he crafted glass with all 24 slots full, and afterwards neither the glass nor the silicate existed. A full pack can no longer destroy anything: crafting, dyeing, re-shaping, disassembling and mining all check for room first and tell you when there isn't any. On top of that: you no longer fall through the world when you place a block under your own feet mid-fall, and a 2-block-high opening is walkable again — until now you got wedged in the doorway you had built yourself. Stacks also hold 1024 instead of 99. 🎒
Thanks, Justus. Keep the lists coming! ✨
