Version 2026.8.10 – Fourteen languages 🌍
August 10, 2026
A week ago the game spoke four languages. Now it speaks fourteen — every single one of them complete: every menu, every block, every recipe, every tooltip, every story line. On top of that you can finally paint your astronaut from head to boots, and the animals stopped sounding like a copy of themselves. 🌍
Fourteen languages — and all of them actually finished. New in this release: Nederlands, Português (Brasil), Polski, Türkçe, Русский, Українська, 简体中文, 日本語 and 한국어 — and Italian is finally complete (from 15% to 100%). Each language got a full pass over all 3,048 texts plus the VEGA prologue pack. You don't have to set anything up: the game picks your system language on first launch, and every new language sits in the picker under its own native name. VEGA and the NPCs answer in your language too — and even the error dialog that appears before any language file has loaded now speaks it. 🗣️
And the handwritten work survives. Francesco's 473 hand-translated Italian texts are untouched, character for character — the machine only filled the gaps. Tone mattered just as much: every language got its own form-of-address rule so the game talks to you like a friend, not a tax office — "je/jij", "ty", "sen", "você", "ты"/"ти", Japanese です/ます, Korean 해요체. A game for kids shouldn't read like paperwork. 😄
Cyrillic and CJK needed a font first. Our house typeface only covers Latin letters — Russian, Ukrainian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean would have shown up as rows of empty boxes. The font now carries a fallback chain: full Noto Sans for Cyrillic, plus tailored CJK subsets containing exactly the characters the translations use — 800 KB instead of 16 MB per language. The browser build grows by about 2 MB rather than 50. 🔤
Paint your whole astronaut. The pixel editor you've been using for your face now opens for torso, arms, legs and helmet as well. Each face is painted big, on the full canvas, with the part's other faces sitting beside it as small live tiles — click one, keep painting, and the whole-part view updates as you draw. Arms and legs are painted individually, so left and right are allowed to differ. Wherever you don't paint, your chosen colour shows through — leave it alone and you look exactly as you always did. Your paint job is saved with your character and visible to everyone in multiplayer. 🎨
The animals stopped repeating themselves. Every call sounds a little different now — pitch and volume drift slightly around the species' voice, recognisably the same animal, never twice the same sound. Roughly one in five calls gets a quieter answer from a different direction a second or two later — a herd suddenly sounds like a conversation instead of a metronome. Plus 26 new recordings: a second take for all 22 voices, and four brand-new ones for the thinly populated habitats — a burble in the water, a sizzle at the lava, a keening cry in the air and a thrum in the caves. 🐾
And cave echo finally works in the browser too. Reverb in caves and the muffled sound underwater had simply never worked in the browser build — Unity Web silently ignores those effects. They're now baked straight into the sound, computed once and remembered. Side effect: caves now sound exactly the same on every platform. 🔊
Also in this one: five server notices — returning from the space zone, closing the trade window, docking status and the two respawn messages — showed you a bare text key instead of a sentence. They speak your language now too. 🐛
If you speak one of the new languages: we'd love your corrections! The first pass is machine-translated, and a native speaker spots more in five minutes than we do in five hours. 🌍✨
