Version 2026.8.26 – The headroom update: more breathing room on tablets 🧠

The tablet update was barely out when Justus, of course, immediately got going on the Galaxy Tab A8 again. And indeed: smoother! But then, right after the loading screen — poof, game gone. This time speed wasn't to blame, memory was: on a tablet with little RAM the browser simply won't hand over enough of it, and that's the end of the session. So this time the plan was: slim down. 🥗

The big one: on phones and tablets the game now keeps only as much of the world in memory as your view distance actually shows. Before, terrain you had long flown past quietly stayed in memory — the main reason longer sessions eventually tipped over. On top of that, the game now reserves its working memory in one go at startup instead of growing it in dozens of small steps right through the most delicate loading phase, and the messages between game and server take far fewer detours. The download got a bit smaller too — and we tried a much bigger slimming cure, measured it, and threw it out: a third less download, but three times slower? Nope. Measure, don't guess. 📉

And if the memory still isn't enough? Then the game now says so kindly: before starting, weak devices get a heads-up ("close a few tabs and apps") with a "Start anyway" button, and instead of a cryptic wall of developer text you get a clear message in all 14 languages — including the measured memory peak, readable right off the device, no cables or developer tools needed. Exactly the number dad needs. 😄

Protocol stays 3, saves migrate, nothing changes on desktop. And if you play in the browser on a tablet: send us a quick report with F1 on how it runs now — now more than ever. Have fun out there! ✨
