Version 2026.8.7 – A homestead among the stars 🏡
August 8, 2026
The homestead update is here — and it turns your base into a home: you can paint blocks, sleep in a bed, cook at a campfire, sit on chairs — and your base finally has air to breathe. Add fire you start (and fight) yourself, and the game now speaks French and Spanish, too. 🎨🔥
Paint your world! The new paint tool (workshop, cheap blueprint) opens a 32×32 pixel editor on any placed block — paint shop signs, warning stripes, kitchen tiles or a full painting, on plain cubes and on ramps and panels alike. Your designs go into a local library and travel with you into every world and onto every server — and everyone else sees your art. And should someone paint nonsense: /reportpaint flags the design, and admins can wipe it everywhere at once. 🖌️
A bed, a campfire — a home. The bed is crafted by hand from logs and fibre, no blueprint needed: E sets your home spawn, and resting next to it slowly heals you. The campfire cooks — cooked meat fills you far better than raw and even heals — and it warms cold nights without ever spreading. On top of that: tables, chairs, fences, rugs, lanterns and flower pots — every shapeable material now comes in furniture forms, too. And yes — you can actually sit on chairs now (press E), and other players see you doing it. 🪑
Ladders actually work now. A placed ladder used to be a full, solid block — you simply couldn't reach it from the side, and in settlements the ladder plugged its own ceiling hole. Now the ladder sits as a thin plate against the wall: step in, climb, step off at the top. Settlement upper floors are finally reachable. 🪜
Your base has air. The whole protection zone around the base core is now a life-support field — where you're allowed to build, you can breathe, even on toxic and airless worlds, visitors included. Want to live bigger? Rooms made of airtight materials — stone, metal, concrete, glass, or a cave dug straight into the rock — hold air far beyond the zone, room after room, as long as everything is sealed. The new energy door is THE airtight door: the same blue field as the ship's hatch — you just stroll through, and the air stays in. On airless worlds a soft blue shield dome shows where your air comes from — and if a hole appears in the wall, the game warns you immediately instead of quietly letting you suffocate. 🫧
Fire! Until now only lava could burn things — now you can: a torch (or a laser shot) sets plants and wood alight, and a determined whack stamps the flame back out. Rain douses fires under the open sky, under a roof they keep burning — and your ships, settlements and bases never catch fire at all. Flames creep irregularly now instead of advancing as a perfect wave, stay local (a forest burns, a continent doesn't) and even survive saving and loading. 🔥
Le jeu parle français — ¡y en español también! Complete translations in two new languages, a real language picker with native names — and for the first time truly everything is translatable: the 300+ server messages that stubbornly stayed English before, and every minigame, now speak your language. Even VEGA and the NPCs answer in French and Spanish. Italian is on its way — once the translation reaches 45% it appears in the picker automatically. Want to help? The repo now ships a complete translation guide. 🌍
Upgrades are real upgrades now. The oxygen tank II is built from your tank I, the advanced scanner from the hand scanner, the laser pistol from the gauss pistol — upgrade recipes consume the predecessor and are cheaper than building from scratch in return. The Mk3 AI core replaces the Mk2 on installation and refunds half its build cost. On top of that, the titanium drill and the mining beam now actually draw the suit energy their descriptions always promised — the basic and diamond drills stay energy-free, so you're never left without a tool. And the crafting list finally sorts by what you can build right now instead of data-file order. ⚙️
Build yourself a home, paint it — and show us! We want screenshots of your painted bases. 🏡✨
