Version 2026.8.9 – Turn it before you place it 🔄
August 9, 2026
A small, sharp follow-up right on the heels of the shaper release: you can now rotate every block before you place it — furniture included — and a ghost preview hovers in the world exactly where your block will land. On top of that, the game's two nastiest save and spawn bugs are history: the base beside your ship now survives reloading, nobody wakes up in a strange cave anymore — and the research tree stays exciting for longer. 🔧
Turn it, then place it! The rotate key (R) technically existed, but it was all but invisible in-game and ignored furniture. Now R rotates everything — ramps, panels, your self-designed forms, and finally beds, campfires, rugs and flower pots too (furniture only spins around its own axis and never tips over — sitting, sleeping and warming keep working exactly as before). Shift+R rotates backwards: one overshoot no longer costs a full lap through all 24 orientations. And instead of axis gibberish like "+X · 90°", the readout now says "Upright / Upside down / On its side" — in English, German, French and Spanish. A hint under the crosshair reveals the keys on its own from now on, whenever you're holding something rotatable. 🔄
A ghost shows you what you'll get. While building, a translucent hologram-blue preview of your block now hovers in the exact cell and orientation a right-click would place it. The preview is built from the very same geometry that will stand in the world afterwards — so built-in shapes and your own creations are guaranteed to look right. No guessing, no tearing down, no do-overs. 👻
The base beside your ship stays saved now. "Singleplayer doesn't save my game!" — build beside the starter ship, quit, reload: build gone. In truth, everything was saved — but an old clean-up routine, meant to run exactly once to clear leftovers from early save files, ran on every join and deleted all built blocks in a box around the parked ship. Exactly where a new player builds first — dug tunnels included. Now it never runs on new worlds at all, and on old saves it runs exactly once: whatever you build afterwards is safe forever. 💾
The cave-spawn bug is history. Some of you know the drill: a fresh world starts, and instead of your ship you wake up in a pitch-black cave, thousands of blocks away — "dug out of the rock". The cause was a race at join time: the client radioed its position before it had processed the server's spawn — from the world origin, where nothing was loaded at all. The server trusted the report, the buried-player rescue "freed" you, and there you were, in the cave. Now the client freezes until the real spawn arrives, and the server discards those ghost reports — the rescue only steps in when you're genuinely stuck. 🛬
Research stays exciting for longer. Despite the last stretch, the blueprint tree was still exhausted too quickly: one ordinary first evening covered the knowledge for roughly 60 of 70 blueprints. The knowledge thresholds got a proper stretch now — starter blueprints stay exactly where they are, but the middle and the top move up noticeably; the biggest prizes now want to see 200+ knowledge. Your banked knowledge and everything already unlocked stays yours, of course. 🔬
Also in this one: the ladder, stairs, station core, trading post, mission board and storage container finally have real textures — until now they showed nothing but a flat colour tile, in the world and in the inventory alike. 🎨
Have fun spinning — and whoever furnishes the first perfectly aligned living room: we want screenshots! 🔄✨
