Version 2026.9.19 – The intercity update: trains between towns, growing ships and doors in space 🚉🚀
September 29, 2026
This update was mostly written by one person: Justus. 📝 He sent eight reports in one go – four bugs around the ship in space, one with the chairs, two wishes and one really big idea – and all eight are in this version. Let us start with the idea: 🚉 on new worlds, an intercity monorail now often joins two towns. At the edge of each town stands a station with a platform, benches, lamps and a roof, pylons carry the glowing line over hills and through forests between them, and a public train shuttles back and forth all on its own and waits about 30 seconds at each station. Just get in (with E – or simply walk in), press E beside a seat to sit down, F gets you off. The train belongs to everyone: no ticket, no ID card, no vending machine – and nobody can steer it, stop it, pack it up or couple wagons onto it. Both stations show on the world map.
🚀 Your ship grows with you now: on a spacewalk you build onto the hull, and from inside you simply keep building outward – up to 15 × 15 × 15 blocks. A door you build into the ship is a real door: it opens and closes, shows in flight and comes back when you mine it. A new room only has air when it is sealed – airtight walls (glass counts) and a door in every opening; step into an open one and your helmet closes. And the repair no longer undoes your changes: what you cut out on purpose is your ship's new shape, not damage. Justus' two ship bugs are gone as well: "THE NOTHING! (again)" – going from the cabin back to the helm and then landing on the same world sometimes left you standing in an empty void. "WHERE?" – the flight now carries on right where your ship floated, pointing the same way.
🪑 One chair, one sitter: nobody can sit down on a seat somebody already sits on – another player or a villager – and villagers no longer sit down into you; they wait beside the chair until you get up. 🧔 The villagers have lost the teal breathing strip that looked like a moustache – instead everyone has a face of their own now: clean-shaven, a moustache, a goatee, a beard or a full beard in their hair colour, and androids get a small speaker grille. 🔥 62 machines, counters, screens and Crystal-Net devices have their own front, sides and top now – the forge shows its fire on the front and bricks on the sides, the crate its lid on top, the workbench its tools on top – and anything with a front turns it toward you when you place it. The preview shows an arrow, and R turns it before you place it. 💬 And VEGA no longer covers half the screen: a message you leave for about 45 seconds folds into a small tab that shows how many messages are waiting – N, a click or a tap opens it again.
🚝 On top come the fixes from the first rides on the hover train: riders now stay in the moving train (before, you slid out at the back – a long fall on a raised line), walking or jumping in is enough to board, even into a moving wagon, and the line is a glowing blue energy band with pulses of light travelling along it. 🪐 And the gas giant finally looks like one: the gas sea is a drifting haze in amber and violet, pulled into streaks by the storm, instead of a tiled pattern with water's foam – and no more water falls from the rock islands, because on a −120 °C world there never was any.
New worlds land on terrain generation 19 (the only place with intercity lines); every existing world keeps its terrain and its towns exactly as they are, and everything else works in old worlds too. The network protocol stays at version 8; an older game version should still update first (the desktop game does that on start, the browser is always current). Thank you, Justus, for eight reports in one go – and thanks to everyone riding along. All aboard! 🚉
