Version 2026.9.20 – The prospector update: a planet scanner, the cargo hold in one key and gas without a floor 🛰️📦
September 30, 2026
Which ores does this planet actually hold – and how deep do I have to dig for them? 🛰️ That is exactly what Bloody Mary wanted to know, and the answer is a new ship module: the planet scanner. Research its blueprint at the cockpit (20 knowledge, no titanium needed), build the module in the Ship tab, and then: open the Map, pick a planet or moon of your star system and press Planet scan. You see how ore-rich the world is, which ore veins it holds – common, moderate or rare, from which depth, and whether you need a tier-2 drill – and the extras: oil pockets, data caches, rare ore right on the surface, metals in deep craters. The numbers come from the very rolls the terrain is generated with, so what the scanner promises is really down there. 🔭 The other scanners now say what they do, too: the hand scanner no longer claims to find resources (it shows what a block yields and which tool it needs), the terrain scanner names its finds ("12 deposits — iron ore ×8 · copper ore ×3 · …"), and if you dig a lot without one, VEGA tells you once where its blueprint is.
📦 The second wish: getting resources into the cargo hold faster. That actually worked already – the button was just hidden too well. Now H is enough aboard: all loose materials and blocks go into the hold, the stack in your hand and your spare suit gear stay with you, and a line tells you how many stacks went in (or that the hold is full). E at the cargo station opens the Cargo Hold page right away, with "Stow all" and "Take all out". 🛒 And the third report: aboard the ship, berries, mushroom skewers and stew could supposedly be "crafted" from silicate and copper ore. Those were really the grocer's trades, which wrongly showed up in the ship's market – and never worked there. The ship's market now lists only what your ship's console really trades, and "Trade" is called that now. 🎨 Along the way, a crash report revealed that the form editor's 3-D preview had been broken in every downloaded build since August – it works again.
🪐 And the gas giant has no rock floor any more: sinking into the gas sea used to show bare stone below. Now, under eight blocks of gas, dense gas goes all the way down – dark, churning and almost opaque. It burns harder (45 instead of 30 per second), you sink through it, and instead of water blue your view fills with an amber haze. This applies to the gas giants you already have, too; anything you built stays as it is. The network protocol stays at version 8 and the terrain generation at 19. The planet scanner comes with game and server 2026.9.20 – the desktop game updates itself on start, and the browser is always current. All new texts are in all 14 languages. Thank you, Bloody Mary, for the first reports – and happy prospecting! ⛏️
