Version 2026.10.7 – The rope update: an energy rope gun, "Back to my ship" and asteroids in your sights 🪢🚀
October 5, 2026
A new tool for everyone who likes to aim high: the energy rope gun! 🪢 A left click shoots a glowing energy rope at a solid block up to 24 blocks away, and as long as you hold the right mouse button, it reels you in – up a cliff, across a gap or out of a deep hole. Hit the top of a block and you land on it; hit the side of a cliff and the rope pulls you right over the edge, no climbing gloves needed. Let go and the winch holds you, and you dangle on the rope. Crouching drops the rope, jumping hops off. The rope does no damage, and if you let go high up, your fall is softened. You research the gun in the Suit branch right after the climbing gloves and build it in the workshop.
🏠 If you have wandered too far while exploring, the pause menu now has a "Back to my ship" button. When you are on foot, it takes you straight aboard your landed ship. After that it recharges for three minutes, and the button counts down the time. It does not work in the middle of a fight, while you are falling or when your ship is not on this world at all – the game then tells you why. It can be switched off in the world options, and on dangerous worlds it is off from the start.
🪨 In space, you can now take asteroids into your sights properly too. "Target ahead" now works on a gamepad (L3) and on a tablet, and when you shoot at a rock, the target lock snaps onto it by itself. Once it is broken up and no enemy is around, the lock jumps to the next rock your laser can reach – so you can mine one rock after the other. ⛏️
⚔️ After the last playtest we also straightened out a few things: drills and scanners in your hand now only hit as hard as a fist – fights are what weapons are for. In return, the Laser Cannon your ship starts with reaches further, 60 instead of 45, and bandits no longer get stuck at the world's seam. On the map, a world in another star system you have never landed on is no longer offered as a travel target; instead it tells you how to get there. That part was contributed by ahmdkaml – thank you! 🙏 And the filter buttons in the sample case are now as wide as their words, so long labels no longer break in the middle.
Your saves and worlds stay as they are, and all new texts are available in all 14 languages. The desktop game updates itself on start, the browser is always current. Have fun climbing! 🪢
