Version 2026.10.8 – The spectacle update: stone arches, pillar islands, debris fields and pirates with real ships 🏞️🛰️
October 6, 2026
New worlds get spectacular! 🏞️ On planets you create from now on, landscapes grow that never existed before: fields of stone arches crossing every which way (some collapsed, the rubble still lying between the pillars), table mountains joined by rock bridges, tables with roofs that reach far past their walls, and wave rocks that curl over the ground. Plus pillar islands: thin stone towers, 40 to 90 blocks tall, alone or in pairs, with balconies on the way up and a crown island on top – a meadow with a pond and a waterfall that never runs dry, and high up even snow and ice. The climbing gloves get you to just under the balcony, the rope gun pulls you over the edge – every pillar is a little climbing puzzle, and data caches, trees and rare ore wait on the balconies and crowns.
🕳️ Karst mountains open in cave portals a whole ship fits through, and hide daylight halls: forests and lakes under a hole in the ground. And on dry worlds, fossils surface from the sand – a sauropod skeleton on its side, a giant skull you can walk into, a serpent's spine winding fifty blocks across the ground. They are made of bone and carry no runes: scan the bones where they lie, and the find counts like reading a monument. Bone layers show in the cliffs, and fossil ridges raise their ribs as a vault, sometimes forty blocks tall. Four new planet types carry one of these landscapes as a whole – Arch Lands, Pillar World, Hollow World and Ossuary World – and every new galaxy has each of them at least once, outside your start system.
🛰️ In space there are now debris fields: a cloud of wreckage around a flight recorder that is still ticking. You find them on the travel screen, copper-coloured on the radar and the system chart, and you can fly straight to them. Come close and the recorder tells you what broke here – a freighter's lost cargo, shipyard scrap, a broken satellite, alien wreckage or an old battle. The mining laser or the pick on a spacewalk breaks the wreckage into scrap, plating and cabling, and the tractor beam pulls in the one or two sealed salvage capsules – energy cells, circuit boards, data fragments. The capsules pay once per galaxy, and the space wreck now stays as gutted as you left it, too: what is gone is gone, and a wreck stripped to its last plate shows as "salvaged" on the travel screen. Inside the field, the drifting rubble taps your shield every few seconds, never the hull – so take it slow. How many systems have a field is yours to set in the advanced world options.
🏴☠️ The raiders, the pirates in space, now fly real ships: one of the known ship classes in near-black plating with a rust-red band, mostly the small ones, now and then a big hauler – and they turn toward where they are going. The bigger the hull, the more it takes. Shoot one down and its ship breaks apart into wreckage you can carve like any other debris. Destroyed drones, saucers and cruisers leave debris now too. And there are three new sounds to go with it: the clank on the shield, reeling in a capsule and a raider showing up. 🔊
Your saves and worlds stay as they are. Only worlds you create from now on get the spectacle landscapes and the four new planet types – existing galaxies look exactly as before, only the debris fields show up there too, without any planet or station moving. All new texts are available in all 14 languages. The desktop game updates itself on start, the browser is always current. Have fun marvelling! 🏞️
