Version 2026.11.7 – The dark-caves update: dark caves, a big chat and your ships in the game 🌑💬
November 6, 2026
Since the last update the suit lamp shines like real light – but what is a lamp for if caves are as bright as the outdoors? That is what we changed this time. On top of that there is a big chat, you can now send us your own ships, towns and skins, and Lyxette reported two more bugs – thank you! 🙌
🌑 Caves are dark again. Until now a tunnel you dug yourself was as bright as the shade under a tree, and a cave almost as bright as outside. Now the light only comes in through the entrance: over the first eight blocks it slowly gets darker, and deeper inside it is dark – never pitch black, you can still make out the shapes. With the suit lamp, torches and glowing cave plants you see everything again. The nights got darker too, because your eyes no longer get used to the dark quite so much. Under trees and in houses it looks the same as before in the daytime. If it is too dark for you, turn up Settings → Graphics → Visibility in the dark.
💬 A big chat. When you press Enter, the chat now opens as a large, half-transparent window in the middle of the screen – twice as wide, with 200 lines of history and a scrollbar. After a command like /help it stays open so you can read the answer; Esc closes it. New messages still show up small on the left, and when VEGA speaks the window moves aside.
🚀 Send us your ships, towns and skins! The Ship Editor, the Station Editor, the Town Editor and the Avatar Designer now have a Submit button – just like the textures. Your creation reaches us with a preview picture. We look at everything, and if it fits the game well we might add it – then everyone can build, visit or wear it. You decide whether your nickname is shown.
🚆 Rails across the seam. Lyxette is building a big rail network, and his dead-straight line suddenly said "too sharp". The reason: it ran across the planet's seam – the place where the world starts over after going all the way around. The game got its maths wrong there. Now the pylons link there as usual. A new pylon also links to the nearest free line end if it cannot link to the one you placed last – so you can close gaps and keep building at the other end.
🐾 The energy fence, explained. Lyxette asked how to build a pen. The description now says it exactly: the ring has to be gapless, edge to edge, one block high is enough, and the fence needs no power. Use an energy gate as the entrance. And your own pet now stays in its pen instead of jumping after you when you walk away.
🎬 Landing between houses. When your ship landed between buildings, the camera of the landing and lift-off scenes could end up inside a wall – and the blocks around the ship disappeared. Now the camera looks for a free spot first, high above the roofs if it has to, and where buildings are in the way you simply watch the landing from the cockpit.
⏳ Into the game faster. With a great many saved worlds, the menu froze for a few seconds after clicking Singleplayer. Now the list shows up right away. And the loading screen tells you what is happening: "Searching for landing sites…", "Building settlements…", "Settlers are moving in…".
🔤 Texts that fit. In the editors some buttons were cut off or the letters tiny – in some languages even in English and German. Now every text fits in all 14 languages, and nothing is smaller than easy to read.
💾 Your worlds stay as they are – nothing needs converting. The desktop game updates itself at start, the browser is always current. Have fun exploring – and don't forget your lamp! 🔦
